House of Horrors

Worlds Darkest Dining Room. Do you like the chic cinder block and plywood desks?

This is horribly depressing. Scott and I have spent the summer hanging out at the house, but basically doing yard work and spending time in the neighborhood reveling in all of the quiet in such contrast to our place in the middle of Long Beach. But today we used our key and went inside and had a good look around. Bad idea.

At first glance we were optimistic. When we did the walk through right before the appraisal and home inspection earlier this year the house was on the messy side. Today with Scott's aunt & uncle out of town things are nice and neat. But then we took a closer look.

The plumbing in both the kitchen and bathroom are in horrible shape, the fixtures and surfaces all need to go, and theplace is as dark as a cave. I stood in the middle of the dining room and cried for a bit. Scott being so much more level-headed, went over to the window, opened the curtains and flooded the room with light. I felt better instantly. But heavens, have we gotten ourselves into a mess with this house!
