Floored

THE STONE FLOORS WE'D BETTER GROW TO LOVE

Once upon a time we dreamed of ripping up the flooring in the house and polishing the concrete to a brilliant shine. Or installing gleaming bamboo floors throughout. But alas, it is not to be. At least not yet.

Because of the fact that we are doing soooo much to the house (ripping out the paneling, putting in a new french door to the patio, ripping out the entire kitchen, ripping out the entire bathroom, painting every wall, re-installing the original clawfoot tub etc. etc. etc.) the timing, orchestration, and budget for flooring is out of control. We can't put in the new toilet (I refuse to use the old one) until we put in the new floors and what about the timing of having the plumber out and installing the new kitchen cabinets over the old floors and on and on and on.

Not to mention the fact that the flooring we liked has been discontinued (that'll teach us not to buy it all at once) and there are a lot of naysayers when it comes to putting bamboo on top of concrete slab.

We've decided to embrace the faux stone that's already there and just let that be it for now until we get everything else in, the new fixtures installed and a chance to breathe. I hope I can stand it!
